International walk to school award
Thank you for your interest in the International Walk to School Award.
Walk to School programs have grown rapidly in the years since the International Walk to School (IWALK) Initiative was established in 2000. Communities across the globe are conducting innovative and outstanding programs. To recognize the outstanding achievement by programs to encourage children to walk to school and create healthier, more sustainable communities, the IWALK Initiative established this award.
An award selection committee, made of individuals representing various organizations from around the world, will review all applications for innovation; results achieved; and program sustainability and replicability. The committee will consider programs of all scope (community to countrywide efforts), financial and technical levels. From the applications, a group of finalists and an award winner will be selected.
After the award process is completed, the information received from all the programs will be available as a resource for the world to see on the web.
If you have questions at any point, please contact us at walk@iwalktoschool.org.
